What is 3D Scanning and how can I benefit from it?
3D Scanning is a process where a physical part or environment is captured, most commonly with Laser Triangulation, or Structured Light. This process produces a digital triangle mesh file from your physical part, with incredible accuracy. It is the perfect solution if you do not have CAD drawings or 3D models for your parts, or find it hard to source a particular component. Likewise, if you have a complex environment, e.g. a car shell, that you want to design the perfect-fit part for, scanning the area will allow a part to be designed to fit the complex contours. We provide a call out service for this. One of our Design Engineers will visit you and capture the data needed. They will then optimise the file back in our design office and have it prepared and ready for 3D Printing on demand.
